At 5 months Rafael is now weighing 7,180 kgs and measuring 67cm...he has footballer's legs and is already sitting up and will stand up holding the furniture...a very strong little boy indeed. He has also learnt to scream...not a very nice trick, but it is amazing how they already know at such a young age what they are doing...and laughs at me when he gets told off!!! Unbelievable!!!!!!!! Now at 5 1/2 months Rafael has just started eating mashed fruits (up until now he has been only on breast milk). Here are a few photos of Rafael trying mashed banana and papaya...it was soo funny! He now puts everything he can get his hands on into his mouth to taste!!

Trip to Teresopolis and Petropolis

Whilst Great Nana, Great Auntie Barbie and cousin Emily were here in Brasil we took a day trip to Teresopolis and Petropolis...here are some of the photos from our day out!

Whilst in Ilheus Rafael also had his first time in the swimming pool. Since babies are not allowed to wear suncream until 6 months he was only allowed in the sun around 6:30 until 8:30 (after that the sun gets REALLY hot) and then again in the late afternoon, around 4pm. Every morning we went for a walk along the beach, yes, I know...it is a hard life and then we would come back to the house to enjoy the pool. Here are some photos of Rafael having fun!

We spent a week in Ilheus, Bahia (Northeast of Brasil) at Nana and Grandpa's house with Uncle Daniel, Daddy (he managed to get some time off work), Great Auntie Barbie, Cousin Emily, Great Nana and Great Nana's friend, Alison!

During this week there were a lot of 'firsts'- let's get going:

On Tuesday the 13th of October me, Rafael, Great Auntie Barbie and cousin Emily all flew from Rio to Ilheus to meet up with Nana, Grandpa and Great Nana and Alison (great Nana's friend) (Great Nana and Alison has flown from the UK to Salvador and then drove with Nana and Grandpa to Ilheus). This was Rafael's first time getting an aeroplane and so it was very exciting! He was also going to see Nana and Grandpa after a month and meet Great Nana Doreen for the first time!!!
